Animal Wednesday - a summer turtle

We saw this turtle on a bike path this summer, he was crossing the trail and almost got slammed by me - but I stopped and "rescued" him (or her). Since I love turtle shells, and am traveling this week - hence plenty of time in a hotel room and on an airplane, I will attempt a turtle drawing sometime this week.

Yup - off to Prince Edward Island again for work - should be interesting. Last time I was there, I dashed home and dashed off again to Florida to MIL's surgery. I am hoping for little excitement this time. MIL is now home, and hopefully happier than when in the rehab.

I think what I love about turtles so much is their inclination to pull their head and feet inside - what a lovely trick.

He/she finally got up the courage to walk away into the brush.

Don't you just love these little tanks?

His shell is so pretty and that bit of orange color underneath. We have snapping turtles around here and they move their little heads really quickly so we tend to stay back from them. :)Bea

This shell looks like a beautiful piece of jewelry.
Enjoy your trip and happy drawing.

Yes although ours look more like pond sludge . I rescue them wondering across the road sometimes. Yours is very shiny and clean! St Edward . . is that in Nova Scotia? St Edward Sound? What do you do for a living?

You bet I love em. This one is so clean too. Usually when I see them they are dirty.

I had lots of pet turtles as a kid. They're beautiful!

I read recently that they're huge carriers of salmonella. Everyone has to get blamed for something!

HAW on Tuesday ;)

I've always wanted to go to PEI.

I do love these little tanks and I have often compared myself to a turtle. I am very private in my personal life and socialize very little. Maybe I was a turtle in a past life?
