Illustration Friday - Toy

It's been a long time since I've contributed to Illustration Friday - and this is an old piece that I did years ago when I started doing ATC's and playing with art. But it's one of my favorites - I think prompted by a story of child abuse that - as usual - made me sick.

I can see how I could have made this piece slicker, covered those white edges, etc. But to me the message is still clear and focused - children are to be cherished and loved...and are not toys for amusement and neglect.

    As one who has helped those suffering from the after affects of child abuse for the past twenty years + this piece is very very powerful to me. Perfect is every way.

    This feels very powerful to me and sad, as well. Child abuse makes me sick to my stomach. The photo of this small tot with that strong message hit me hard. Very well done, Mim! xoxo

    at first sight, i thought it was a lighthearted piece, but then i read your words and understood the powerful message behind it.

    it is a beautiful piece, poignant and yet lyrical in its own way.
