Heathrow

I call this painting "Heathrow" after spending hours at the international terminal last week.  The variety of people you see at that airport astounds me - every culture, every color, masses and masses of people.  I simply HAD to paint them.

This painting started out to be a representation of immigrants, refugees...but it took a turn towards the industrial.  Hence the "Heathrow" title.



I may change the background horizon but will try it in photoshop first, so as not to be surprised.

Let me know what you think - and I'm glad it's off my chest now!!!

    And you lacked confidence in achieving perspective?!

    I adore this Mim, every person, every shadow, every capture of a loooong line. Gosh you are good.

    well...KJ - that's good to know, I love inspiring and being inspired! glad you like it...this is the first time that I HAD to paint what I was feeling.

    You succeeded! It is *Heathrow* - people-wise....it reminds me (a bit) of the one painting you did a while back with all of the different people...

    Travel always gives us lots to think about. I like this drawing. It can mean so many things.

    Wonderful, you just need to multiply it by about 10 to really see the crowds at heathrow. I see some Stephanie Ho peeping through this work.Love it.

    Oh Mim, I love everything about this! The perspective is awesome, the graduated sizes. The shadows, etc etc etc, fabulous.

    this is fabulous mim.......really. as i scrolled down and had a first glimpse i honestly thought it was a photo of a line at heathrow. by the way, inspired title. i believe heathrow is the world's busiest airport (or right up there with atlanta's hartsfield) but there is a feeling of humanity, diversity, movement and hope that springs forth from this piece.
