Rain

After a gorgeous week, and a many gorgeous weekends - it poured today, so Sean made the decision not to go to 6 flags and take the chance that the rain would stop. Good move kid - he found out that they closed the park at 1:30.

But lots of fun shopping got done - thanks grapes!

off to PEI tomorrow - have a good week all,

Artsy Soul Sisters

SB started a Traveling Journal called "ArtsySoulSisters" and I finally got around to working on my cover and page 1. I have been so busy at work and home that I had complete blockage and had to rely on my Miss Em muse to get me out of it. Above is the cover and page 1 is below. 9 other artists will add their page, then I will bind all together. Fun but I hate having that creative block, it makes me nervous.
We are off today to go kayaking, my nephews and their mom are coming over tonight and the kids want to go to one of those 6 flags places out in Springfield. So we'll take them and hopefully Grace and I will get to just hang out somewhere and relax. She has designs on the Christmas tree shop and I have designs on some artsy stores. So between the two of us, we'll find something to do.

have a good saturday friends -

A page for Cathies Book

This is interesting because it doesn't look this plain in real life. It's glittery-er, and heavy feeling and has texture and depth. But somehow this scan flattens it out to yuck.

Either way, it's a page for Cathies book and I hope she likes it when it wings it's way back home to her. It's off to Suki soon.

Animal Wednesday - the two pigs

I was fascinated by these ever-so-pink pigs that we saw on Sunday. I don't often get to see pigs up close, but since we used to live near a pig farm - I recognize the smell of them.

We were riding down the gorgeous bike path and I could smell pig - Whew! I didn't see them at first, and then they erupted from somewhere, running alongside the trail (behind a fence thank goodness) hooting and hollering! I thought that they were chasing us, or barking (in pig-terms) at us to stay away. But really I now think that they were just excited to see a person, and they made noise for no reason. They were very curious about us for a few minutes, you could see them evaluating us in their little pink heads. Then they went back to snorting and snuffling and playing with each other.

The one laying on the ground got a good belly rub from the other one and he (or she) seemed to be enjoying it tremendously; with closed eyes and little satisfied sounds - in a piggy way.

I used to be a vegetarian - it was a long time ago and my scruples were not as strong as my taste for hamburger. But there are times when I wonder how/why we actually still EAT other beings. We probably don't need to anymore, we can figure out how to get our protein from other sources. It's expensive and most important - it's cruel. These guys were happy snorting around, not knowing that the fall butchering time was coming near. I really did feel bad. Frankly, I'm not sure what exactly to do with this feeling - I'm not ready to go back to being a veggie - but I am somewhat heading in that direction a bit more today than I was last week.

Anyway...Happy Animal Wednesday to you all, and if you have a pet pig - give it a hug for me.

Painting

I've never really painted a "painting" - if you know what I mean. Then last weekend I was in the Worlds Greatest Hardware Store (more about that later) and I found these great big tubes of acrylic paint for only $5.00 each so I bought Red, Yellow, Blue, White and Black. And then I started working on an official Painting.

And here it is in process. I like the fact that I can paint over things if I don't like them. I like the creaminess of the paints and the way you can glob them around. I don't like waiting for things to dry - that doesn't appeal to my do-it-now personality.

Anyway, I'm having fun. Watch out Picasso (or is it Mondrian?)

So - the Worlds Greatest Hardware Store - is a true 5 and dime in West Concord. If you want it - they have it. Art supplies. Clothesline. Gasket-things. Buttons. Garter attachments. Penny Candy. It's like a magic store, I don't think I have ever gone in there wanting something and come out empty handed. On the other hand, I pile up a ton of things to buy and only end up spending $25.00. It's a wonderful store.

Have a good Tuesday everyone!

A bike ride on the most gorgeous day we've had so far

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Rail Trail in Bennington NH - gorgeous warm fall day. Lots of energy. Feeling great. I think you can click to enlarge

A surprise on the trail - we smelled them before we saw them. They hooted and chased us - thank goodness they were enclosed.

Perfect.
