Animal Wednesday - curved fish

One of the things that I want to work on this year is perspective (in more ways than one) and drawing things with some depth to them. I mostly draw flat items - with little "volume" in the drawing. So I'm teaching myself how.
And of course I am starting with fish - I drew this from a picture of a fish in this position - and I will be trying more. It's hard for me to see the subtle changes in something like this, unless it is in black and white. But I will keep trying....after the volume exercise I will try feathers!

Have a Happy Animal Wednesday everyone -

Hey...before you go - one question -

Do you think I should try that Mr. Linky thing for Animal Wednesday??? I know that Teri does it for Mondays - and I was thinking.....

let me know what you think of the idea,

God-mothers Day too

Sean and Brian were hired to help me clean out the shed. DH negotiated a rate, and they showed up to work on Saturday afternoon. After a delicious lunch we headed out to the crammed full, totally messy shed.

They worked faithfully for hours and at the end I had a gleaming clean and organized garden shed. We took pictures the next morning.

Here they are in front of the garden shed.

"Welcome to our clean shed! "

Clean as a whistle.
Acting normal on the back lawn.

Grace brought the kids up right! On Mothers Day I always get a "God-mother" card - which I love!

Delightful day - best workers I ever had. Got to return them home to NH and had homemade popovers for brunch. WOW.

Haiku - link to last post if you will....

Miss Em dances alone
her shadow falls across the floor
she takes a quick bow

Haiku day here

A Morning Dance

This is my 800th post; I can't even believe it!!!

In honor of this auspicious day, I will place all names in a hat of people who comment here and this ORIGINAL Miss EM picture will go out to you. That's if you want to be in the running. If not just say so. Don't be shy. Not everyone wants morning doodles coming to them in the mail. I will wait until Friday night to do the drawing - so as to be fair to the millions of people who just might want to enter this amazing contest.

By the way, as you can see Miss Em is alive and well. She's been trying to put together another book, in different formats - like softcover and hardcover - maybe even for sale. But it's a ton of work, and I - her creator (how powerful that sounds) don't have a ton of time to work on that project. I will keep you updated.

Have a good Monday everyone.

some experiments

An ATC with a painted background, metal star, angelina type film, stitching, heat gun, fish charm.

A bigger piece that I painted, sewed down that film (what IS it called???) heat gun, - a complete experiment.
And an angel in the works.
Just showin' ya....

Six Word Saturday

I received a present this week!!

From Laurel. I was overwhelmed with gratitude and also had a good giggle. Thank you friend - you are the best.

And then...

I received other lovely presents - Hurray!!

ATC trades from Cris and Lisa - and a photo card from the talented Cris.

Lisa's is the adorable frog and Cris - the seahorse (yea for fishes); the card is gorgeous - Cris with her eye for color and design...wow.

Thanks - I love them, they are wonderful.

Now TODAY I came home from work on opened up the cards on the table - and I actually gasped out loud. 4 ATC trades from Soulbrush - and they are gorgeous. Especially the dark one with the two golden leaves! The green one reminds me of a leaf floating down the river.

And to top off the week - Hurray for Friday - I got this thank-you-for-the-baby-quilt card from Carla and Mark, SB's lovely son and daughter in law. My very own picture of the adorable Miss Maggie Rae.

Pictured above in a hand knit grandie sweater - the two together are irresistible.

What a week.

Thank you all - what fun trading we are having.
