Postcard Friday

Somehow I don't think Helen was getting what she needed from Eugenie - I like her opening sentence "you might write to me" - WOW - guilt by postcard in 1907! Then she goes on to gloat about having the time of her life (obviously a snub) but falls back into curiosity when asking about Shimble Islands. Actually it's "Thimble" Island which are a group of small islands in Long Island Sound, located in and around the harbor of Stony Creek in the southeast corner of Branford, Connecticut (according to Wikipedia) . So while Helen was in Ohio at Baldwin University - ol' Eugenie was whooping it up on the beach in Long Island Sound.

I couldn't find these buildings on the Baldwin site - but am sure they have been turned into some lovely cultural centers.

Happy Postcard Friday all

This is hilarious! Postcard guilt is right! I wonder what their relationship was. Sisters? Friends? I guess we'll never know! Delightful post Mim Sheila:) Happy PFF!

So funny! "You might write" - how to cut someone in three easy words. :)

This is one reason those cards are so though provoking, fun and mysterious. This one made me laugh...a proper snub

I love wondering about past lives like this. Such fun. but I do think she wrote Thimble. look at what you call the S. it does have a mark on the other side kind of curved down to form a T. Thanks for sharing.

i've noticed this tone in a lot of old postcards... I'm wondering if - besides the obvious passive aggression - in the pre-inexpensive phonecall days, if people just couldn't help themselves, to really say what they had to say, in as few words as possible. Very pretty card and I love seeing the handwriting :)

I so enjoy the postcards, just a tiny peek into history AND someone else's business - haha!

Loved the turle chronicles you previously posted and the fishhead, beautiful!!!

Postcard guilt...that's funny! I must say I have never begun a postcard that way before! I hope she got her point across :)

Oh how times have changed - Mobile phones and text messages...
I wonder if someone will also be analyzing OUR messages in the next Century?

I love this post! It makes me want to run out to the antique store and buy some old postcards to see what other tidbits are out there. What fun to peek into the lives of someone who was having the time of their life in 1906.

mim, lolo asked me to let you know she has arrived in rhode island and will be without internet access for probably a few more days. she wants you to know she misses you and can't wait to get back to blogging.

she's also exhausted and excited!

How VERY wonderful!

I'm sorry I am coming by so late for Postcard Friendship Friday. My parents were involved in a roll-over accident on the freeway last Monday. Miraculously both of my dear parents survived and are recovering, leaving little time for blogging. I had a few minutes just now, though, so here I am.

Happy PFF!
