I just found out last night that an old friend passed away. He was an early boss of mine at a pharmaceutical company, an interesting, crazy English guy. Good boss, odd fellow, brilliant - who taught me alot about balancing work with family. He adored his wife and family - truly did. He was an odd duck in the corporate world - he wore suits just like the rest of them, but his were recycled from the early 60's - claimed that they were coming back in style (NOT!). Changed from his shoes to his slippers every day at work, and shuffled about in slippery hush puppies all day. We shared an office for years and he smoked like a chimney. The only way I could get some smoke free days was to bring my dog to work - he wasn't fond of dogs and would try to find another office to sit in all day, or work in the lab. I always felt that if I ever get lung cancer, it would be from him!!
And guess what he died from.
Damn - life is so short. I'd been meaning to get in touch with him after these last two secluded years...and it's too late.
I'll miss knowing he's out there - someone that I could get in touch with at any time, and know that contact would be welcome.
Go hug your loved ones...and call those old friends.

aw, Mim. That's a hard one to take. I'm sorry you lost your friend.
I love the image of him in his outdated suits and comfy slippers.
I think it's best that you didn't see him sick.
I'm glad you have fond memories.
Here's a hug. ((((♥))))
love,
Lo♥
You've painted an extraordinary image of your old friend...I was visualizing the two of you in your office with the smoke curling around the two of you. I'm sorry he's gone.
There is an old friend I've been thinking of lately and I haven't kept in touch. I think I'll give him a call today...thank you, dear Mim!
Hugs. So sorry...words...what a history you had with him...except for the smoke a lovely coworker friendship...I am truly sorry for your loss...more hugs.

Yes I am sorry to hear about your loss of a Friend. We should always follow thru on our feelings of seeing someone before its to late.
Beautiful portrait, Mim. Honestly, I think there isn't time for everybody but just as honestly this is why I will not let too much time pass without seeing you. I've lost three very dear friends and they taught me this lesson

wonderful story - I feel like I would recognize him if I saw him on the streets! Sorry for your loss!
I guess you got ahead of me in your posts again. I see a bunch I missed. So sorry about your old boss/friend. He sounds like he was a lot of fun. I agree, we should all appreciate each other every single day.
I can see your tears through the veil of smoke. He will be happy that you miss him. Big Hugs.
Regrets. I think he would smile to know you are thinking of him and have those memories.
