I saw this in a New York City subway station - can you believe it? Isn't it amazing? It was hidden and dark and dirty (there were two of them or more) and I would have loved to have rescued it. I found that alot of the subway stations were decorated with wonderful tile work, and this one in particular represented the beaver pelts that made Jacob Astor rich.The things you can see in New York - amazing.

there is something to see on every block. my favorite is the corner little grocery stores, filled with rows of fresh flowers and fresh fruit, every color in the world there on those corners

Isn't it a shame that some art gets tucked away and forgotten? It is really well done, I like it a lot! Hope you do well at the Yarbowl - surely KJ will change the name for you!

I have never been to NYC. I really have to get off my duff and go since I am now on the same side of the country. :) The subways could use some...um...redoing, from what I hear from just about everyone. This tile is lovely! xo Pam

Mim, so glad you noticed it... there are so many gorgeous mosaics and paintings on those walls in the "depths of the subway".... I have never seen this one - he's gorgeous!

It's awesome finding these little treasures that everyone seems to just pass by without noticing. I think I'd love NY too . .just havent got there yet.

Beautiful! Reminds me of the wood carvings at Timberline Lodge in Oregon.
