Six Word Saturday - Art as a way to work thru fear

Not a True Story - Lucky Me

This hasn't happened to me yet, but has to so many friends - it worries me. Drawing is a way to work through the fear and find a way to the other side

Mim, this is fantastic. I so admire the way you can express yourself through Em. I hope and pray you don't get cut or if you do that window of opportunity opens wide for you. Blessings.

It is scary for sure. I love the way Miss Em found a creative and generous solution. Plus she helped you express and work through your fear.

Thanks all, I also thought it was a good story. I've asked my sister to write some text - she's working on it - we want the "stella sisters" to be a published team!

Throughly enjoyed that unfortunately it's so true. :)Bea

Not wanting to put your sister out of work, however, this piece stands alone, as is very well... I believe it is publishable as is. The pictures and few words speak volumnes.

Yes, this is happening in California big time. Patty's husband has three "furlough" days (unpaid do not come to work days a month)cutting over $500 a month from his income...many of my clients have also been given furlough days or been laid off completely from their jobs. One had to stop therapy because she could no longer afford the $20 copay. So it trickles down and effects my business too. My husband, the teacher, will be told soon, how much they will be cutting from his salary. I could go on and on but it is too depressing.

Wishing you well on holding on to your job.

Just a different perspective-I FEAR being stuck in a manufacturing job. That said, if I needed to do one to feed myself, I would.

I'm so glad Em worked it out and helped others.
I'm glad I didn't jump in and start a business when I first moved back to Oklahoma, I'd likely be belly up by now.

Such a great way of showing what is going on. It not only affects workers but it is now affecting those on social security that can't work. They can't lower the amount they get but they can stop any raises which they have for the next two years, but will keep raising the medicare, which makes less money coming in. Some don't have enough to live on as is.

That's fantastic Mim! I think the sister team ought to be named the "Stellar Sisters" when you get your stuff together.
I love how Ms. Em wasn't going to give into the doldrums and the situation, yet instead took it into her own creative heands to help herself and others.
I love the way your mind works.

I just started putting my feelers out there for work. Not a nibble but I have to admit I'm waffling on what I really want to do.
I may have to work at Micky D's!

Oh goodness, no kidding on this word verif...loquit!!!

Writing serves the same function for me that drawing does for you. I enjoy your cartoons.

Oh Mim, you had me captivated! I kept wanting to turn the pages to see what happens next. I kept looking and reading all the details sprinkled throughout the pages. So much to see. I love stories with happy endings. We need more Ms Em's in the world.

I know this feeling. We have also been forced to take "furlough" hours without pay. Starting in Jan we will be cut to 37.5 hours per week. I'm still grateful I have a job, but it does cut into our plans.

Mim, this is such a wonderful story. It is sad that this happens, but isn't it great that we still live in a country where these opportunities are possible? Dreams can be reshaped and born again if we are able to grow and rethink ourselves.
Your sketches are wonderful. You are such a good cartoonist.

Did you draw these? I am very impressed. I was laid off from the round thing factory and am waiting for a 'yes' from the all shapes factory. Such a sweet cartoon!

Losing your job and then losing everything you have worked so hard for is a nightmare......

Oh, Mim, this is wonderful! Em is my hero. I love the optimism. She takes action and brings her dreams to life. The illustrations are absolutely charming! Love the different shaped heads. Teehee.

I recently read that 2 out of every 5 employable adults in CA is unemployed. Only 57% are working. Atrocious.

And happy anniversary! What a beautiful photo. Aww, you got a horse drawn carriage??? Lucky girl. :)
