Because my Friday night painting class was cancelled, I'm going to try a figure drawing class instead. I don't really want to do this - NOT interested in doing 3 minute drawing poses - that kind of pressure in not good for me, I'll be drawing stick figures. But if I don't like it I can get my money back.So here we go again.....

I began to get somewhere when I stopped trying to get it Right. Can't see the point.

It would all depend on the models. ;)
I have done this sort of thing years ago. Very good practice for both hand and eye. Usually the models in the classes I took were female which is okay but it might be quite fun for the hermit me to be gazing an a guy like that. Course professionally speaking.
I think I'd rather do the figure drawing than the painting class really. I'd like to get the 'technique' down pat then fiddle around with the painting side. Good luck and I hope your tutor is a little nicer this time.
You will probably be surprised at what you can do in three minutes... the form of the body can just flow out. I'm sure you will get 10min sessions and more. Try it for a while, I think you will get something out of it.
I hope this class proves to be satisfying for you.
