Christmas Blessing

My Mother in Law died last night, right before midnight on Christmas Day. We were expecting it....yet expectation has nothing to do with facing reality does it? There were many tears all around, and they'll continue today as we inform friends and family.

During the day, she would often smile, and once she mouthed "mama" so we are hoping she is with her mama and her daughter and husband now, and is getting to know the baby she lost at birth. What else can we hope for or imagine?

Much to do now, but we're taking some time just to be together, and start to get on this different reality train.

We agree that in many ways, having her go peacefully and without pain was the best Christmas present that any of us could get.

Christmas 2010 will certainly be in our memories for a long time.

Dear Mim,

Death (unexpected or not) is always a shock to those who are left behind. I feel it was a blessing for your MIL to pass surrounded by her loving family - and on such a holy day as Christmas Eve. She is with her parents, her child - and she will stay a part of your heart and your DH's.

Now, you all will face a different reality..... but, I hope that the knowledge you all were WONDERFUL and CARING to her will make this transition a bit easier,

I will light a candle for her today. And will keep all of you in my prayers. A special hug to DH.....

Love, always,

♥ Robin ♥

It was wonderful that you both were with her as she transitioned from this plane. And my oh my, just before Christmas. I agree with Robin on it being a special time to pass. I had thoughts of her dying on Christmas, I don't know why.

I know there will be a huge hole in your lives and routines. I hope T can see the blessing in her passing and leaving a world of pain. Still, we never, ever forget the loss of our mothers.

My heart goes out to all who mourn her loss, especially to you and T who have spent so much time with her in her illness.

Love, hugs and blessings~

I'm so sorry mim.

You are right, the best Christmas gifts are about the love of family. Bless all of your hearts.

Oh Mim!
My heartfelt condolences. Even it was something you were expecting it is hard. But so good you were all there and she went in peace surrounded by the ones she loved and convinced to meet the ones she loved and lost before. There is something special about the way she parted and on that particular day.
I hope you can all comfort each other with love and loving memories.

Hugs♥

I'm so sorry, Mim. I'm so glad you and your husband were by her side. The process of her death sounds magical, really. There will be tears, but don't forget the laughter as well. It sounds strange, but humour saw me through.

My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Take good care of yourself and your husband...the death of a parent can be difficult later on.

Much love to you, Mim.

mim, i am sorry and my prayers are with you and mr. t and your families. i see so many blessings in the time and space of this: you and T were there with your MIL(how totally comforting that it), you will not have to board another plane and carry your sadness there, you are with family and can make arrangements together.

and now you will always honor and remember your MIL as Christmas eve turns into Christmas day.

bittersweet, but mostly i am glad you were there and glad you won't have the compelling burden and juggle of traveling so much.

i love you always mim. merry christmas

I'm so sorry to read this Mim. Having read all the comments I can see that any words from me would be superfluous so I will instead say a prayer for you, your family, and your Mother in Law. I am glad her passing was peaceful and that she was surrounded by loving family, I hope that eases your heart somewhat even in this sad time.

Warmest hugs to you. xx Jos

It's always too soon to let them go, even when we know His timing is perfect.
All the best (and prayers) to all of you. It's never easy,,,and especially I think for our Mothers.

I'm so sorry for your loss yet so glad she was able to pass peacefully. You were without a doubt the best daughter-in-law a mother could ask for.
