First Applique Quilt

I finished it (pretty much!). This applique quilt was fun to do, but more work than I thought it would be. I decided to hand quilt the yellow sky area, and embroidered eyes on the birds and smoke coming from the chimney. I have a few more bits to do, but basically it is done. I didn't make this quilt for anyone specifically and am going to try to sell it thru Etsy - or thru another avenue. Either way, getting the pricing right will be challenging. While it took me alot of hours to complete, mostly I was on a learning curve and the next one should be much quicker. I've done designs for 5 more quilts - should be interesting!!

Always learning - that's my motto for the day. Always learning.

have a lovely monday - at least TRY to....

and a little beauty it is too. that's the problem with hand made work, the price can never reflect the time taken. you are on a winning streak now, keep it up.

This is sweeet. All of that hand work is beautiful. Something you can't get just anyplace. I can't wait to see your new designs.

I love it! Quilts are my favourite things! And the price for them can be quite dear, as well. We have a queen-sized quilt up for raffle through Hospice, and it is valued at over a thousand dollars.

Hand made work is always worth the price!

This is so very beautiful....priceless! Catching up a bit, just read over your last 3 posts. I can't believe the nerve of some people, not to mention the thoughtlessness, maybe they are just mean. LOVE your cartoon.....go for it girl!!!!!!

Mim, this is lovely! Very impressive for a "first"... I am not a sewer/quilter...but, I know how much work you put into this. We currently are showing an exhibit of Amish Quilts at the de Young. Most of them are quite old - 1900, 1912 etc. The work that went into them - all that hand stitching - astounding!

It has given me a greater understanding and definite appreciation for anyone who quilts!
You are quite a Renaissance Woman!

Thank you for your kind words too...

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

It is precious. Someone will buy it and treasure it I am sure.
Don't sell yourself short either...the work is in it! Deserves to be bought as an art piece! good luck!!!!

Oh Mim, this is just darling!!
It wuld even make a wonderful wallhanging for a sweet bedroom. Wow!! I'm looking forward to seeing the other designs.

Pricing, oy. We can never get money for the time we spend making things of an artful nature. That just seems wrong to me.

I hope you stay fair to yourself in the process ;)

It is beautiful! I hope you are able to sell it for lots because someone needs to treasure it and not take it for granted. Make it too cheap and it's not as appreciated.
