Start a new painting

I've been wanting to do this painting for awhile - I saw something of this style at a folk art museum and wanted to learn how to get the hilly look So...I'm working on it. Looking at the pictures, I can see where it needs some adjustment - and definition - but I'll work on that later. Meanwhile - I'm liking it - although I think it would have been better on canvas and with acrylic instead of difficult watercolor.

Either way - it's fun and a learning experience.

i enjoy seeing the progression of this painting. you are inspired! i agree that watercolor is difficult. but i think you have done a lovely job with it. and in some ways it is so nice to just grab a sheet of paper and box of waterpaints as opposed to stretching a canvas and getting out the acrylics. or oils.

Water colors are hard..You get one shot most of the time. but this is looking great. I love that Grandma Moses style of painting. Keep it coming. :)

This is fabulous, mim! I love the sense of light that watercolors give. I am a big fan of folk art, so you are making me smile with this one. :))) xox

I think you are doing a good job. At first I thought it was a quilt.

I hate you! Is there nothing you can't do??? :)
This looks every bit as "folksy" as P. Buckley Moss. I'd better buy something from you before you become famous. This is so great.

Well, Mim this is incrediably cool. I'd say you are off to a brilliant start. I love the dark shadows on the trees/bushes...just beautiful. Will look forward to the more of it too.

Lovely, rolling quilted hills.
Is this the paper I just gave you?
It's a style that suits you Mim!

I noticed you have put in three cypress trees. Do you know that's my signature in landscape paintings? They represent the three male cats we had for years.

I love this. Wow!

Oh I love it. Great depth of field and I think it looks lovely in watercolours. Reminds me of someone and I can't think who. Great to see a work in progress.
