I found these feathers outside the garden shed this weekend. At first I saw two, then three and then saw the rest scattered around.
Looking up to a bark of noise, I saw the local fox bounding around looking for his lunch. He saw me holding the feathers and stopped to watch. We stared at each other for a few minutes.
Quite a garden story I think.
Happy (for some) Animal Wednesday.

I just loving seeing a fox but not sure I want to have a stare down with one.
We need Lisa to tell us what kind of bird this was.
HAW
That wily fox caught him a Yellow-shafted Flicker. Darn the luck. Why couldn't it have been a nice big fat dove or better yet a Starling. Such excitement in your garden.
I can't believe Lisa wished it had been a dove, they mate for life and I hate it when my cat kills one. Hard to watch animals do their thing.
Well you are larger than the fox so I am not too worried. I hope.
aw, I love Flickers :(
We have a fox that runs through the yard daily and he's the size of a Buick! I'm glad Emma is never loose.
HAW, you wild woman!
the local fox. i did chuckle at that. sorry for the bird though, and not sure it's good to stare at a fox. be sure to carry a pocket full of rocks.
Poor bird. Foxes are small and will not attack you unless you mean harm, no reason to be afraid, I would not try to touch one, but I think you are safe just looking at it. They are so beautiful, luck you. xoxo
