Project Linus

After making that last "Princess" quilt - and realizing that I was spending a bit too much time worrying about my own artistic sensitivities I decided to find an organization that would accept homemade quilts for kids and have just signed up for Project Linus. Two comments gave me this idea - one came from HB - who gently pointed out that the child who was receiving my quilt would love it, and from Kerstin who pointed out how much her daughter would love a princess quilt.   How scared those poor kids must be - in a hospital, feeling sick and miserable - without their comforting toys and blankies.  I hope that donating to this charity will help in a tiny way - and a new princess quilt will be started as soon as possible.

Sometimes it takes a gentle kick to get me out of my own head - and back into the real world. Thanks friends.

what a great idea mim. i crochet baby blankets for premature and still born babies, and send them to a charity called 'syddles'. it is such a good feeling every time i pack up 6 new blankets.

I thought of your princess quilt when I was selecting materials for my venture into baby quilting. Daisy (the baby to be's name)will have a hot pink, baby pink, black and white quilt like no other (these are the colors her mom wanted). And, I'm not too stressed by it now, because I realized she won't care what it looks like and her mother will like anything that you give her for the baby...LOL. It's a win win.

that´s a lovely idea, mim.

i never used to be such a pink and frilly princess girl like my daughter. sometimes when we go together shopping, she can choose whatever she wants to wear. then she sometimes chooses t-shirts which almost give me a heartattack ;). but i think to myself, let her wear it if she thinks it is beautiful. same for my son. he´s really a small man already. thinks and talks only about pirates, vikings and spiderman. but some nights he wants to wear a pink velvet nightgown. people think that is very strange, but i think that he should do it, if he likes it (i´m glad he only likes to wear it at night though. ;) ). :)

and you know, the best presents are the presents which the recipient likes. so your quilts are actually fantastic.

i will join your group of admirers and shower you with love and kind words because that is what you deserve.especially on Mothers Day because even though you are not a mother you have been just as good as a mom to me. you may not be a mother but i can tell you that you are by far the best Auntie Mim Mim on this planet. good luck with the quilts even though i know you won't be able to make them as good as mine.
love sean

P.S. Maybe this will get me some more points so that you will let me choose the movie next time.hahahaha

I love project linus! My son received one of their quilts when he was in the hospital and only a few months old. He loved it and it is still (one year later) he is favorite blanket. I always meant to send a thank you to the organization because it meant so much to us in such a scary time. So, thank you to you for joining something so great.
