I never understood how they got the canned laughter for TV shows. Did they gather an audience and tell them funny stories and hold up signs saying "Laugh loud" or "Give us a guffaw" - while they recorded the laughter. Or are there professional laugher's out there, who hire their services? Or perhaps they are using laughter from the '50's - once recorded and used forever.

There's a line in a chuck palahniuk novel about how all those laughters were recoded in the 50's which probably means that most of those people are dead now - what a scary thought...
When they play the canned laughter it sounds silly :) fun illo!
I used to wonder about that too! There was always one with an obscenely loud chuckle or snort! Very nice inking!

I say they recorded it once in the 50s. It always sounds the same to me. I know we use a laugh track at work when we do multimedia work. You can buy it from stock studio.
Canned laughter! That's what I thought of also, but could not figure out how to draw it. You did a great job!

I'm glad we do not need canned laughter at our house. We make each other laugh all the time...and there is nothing canned about it. BTW I grew up in the 50's and I am not dead yet!
