Animal Wednesday - Nikki

Cris had a picture on her blog of her Cat Nikki and I decided to draw it. Okay, before you look at this drawing - remember these facts:

1) I have never drawn a cat

2) I usually draw fish - they don't have paws

3) I have never drawn a cat.

So here is Nikki, looking rather weirdly foreshortened and glad that she is on a chair, as there is NO way that those paws would allow her to walk unaided on a floor.

So happy Experimental Animal Wednesday everyone - enjoy!

Oh, and go read this article - is it coincidence or has the soul of this cat started to invade AW???

Oh I have a big smile on my face right now. :))I love it!!! I think you did a great job. You really captured that pose of hers that I thought was so darn cute & had to take a picture of. :)))
She is going to get a big head now you know... LOL

For never having drawn a cat before I think you did a pretty good job. I bet she could leap right off that chair and walk on the floor unaided too!

Me thinks thee doth complain too much. Your rendition of Niki is fine. It was such a sweet photo and I can see why you were moved to capture her in this art form.
Surprised you didn't draw her looking over a fish bowl full of fish with legs! ;-)

You crack me up.You may have a new muse. I don't think kitty is so bad. Those sweet pussy toes are difficult to capture. HAW.

Every time Bliss sits with her paws crossed like that I smile! It's one of the sweetest poses...which you've captured quite well, my dear ;)

LOL Well, that cat looks like it wants to have a discussion with you about some things. I think it looks very good. I can't even imagine what my first drawing would look like. :)Bea

When Luna gets old enough to sit still for a minute I want to try to draw her. Right now, she's young and needy and if I so much as glance at her she wants to be held. Being all one color-she's a great study for shading and contrast in monotones-but first she has to sit still. Did I mention, she doesn't sit still?

I think it's a fine cat! Waay better than I could do.

Great job Mim.

I would love to sit with you and I know that we would love it. I know it with all my heart. It would be an instant love connection.
