Kate's book theme is "Nature". Gorgeous art work in there - wow... I chose to do miniature nature - drawing pollen, spores, virus', and seeds.
The back side is..what else...a fish. As I was working on this, DH commented "have you thought about birds?" (hint, hint). I told him that I had to master the sea, then the land, and finally the air...and it could take millenium. He sighed.
Marianne sent me Caroline's book for ArtySoulSisters - and the theme is color. The artwork in there is so amazing! I did a watercolor of houses, I've been playing with this technique over the past few weeks. Using a resist to draw the shapes and windows of the houses, and filling in with color. With planning, this is a fun technique and can be taken further than I have done here. There is a second side but the scanner is cranky this morning and won't scan side 2.
These will go out to the next person this week!

These are fantastic Mim I especially love the fish.

These are great Mim. I LOVE the fish. Gee that Yoel said the same thing on Lynns blog. EXACTLY.
Mim, these drawings are so delicious that I just had to embiggen them! I honest to goodness could hug that fish, he's just so cute. I think it's his eyes and his pouty mouth ;)
Your colors are more vibrant on these, it seems. Were you using more of a dry brush?
Hey, I'm with mr. T...boids, boids, boids!
P.S. I'm too afraid to click on that guy's song. Could be a virus that you didn't draw!
;)
I love all your pages for your art pass-around books. the fish is very cute but I'm a bit intrigued by the miniature nature. That's a fun idea!
Lovely pages for Kate! You know how I love your watercolors!
What is that resist to draw thing? is it a pencil?
It makes a wonderful result!
Lolo...are you from Brooklyn??? Marianne - the resist thing is this liquid you get in a jar - I used "liquid frisket" and you draw it on with a pen...let it dry...do your watercolors and then rub it off. It's not real precise but fun.
I'm not linking on that guys song...NO way!!!
Gorgeous watercolors. The miniature world oddly looks like outer space to me. Grand /miniature. Hmmm. Love the fish and look fwd to getting this bk as I know I you mail to me for one of these go rounds. cheers.
I just love your fishes. Don't abandon them. There are many fish in the sea of inspiration.
That fish is a knockout!
But I like all your pages/art...
Glad you are in the NEXT art book too!
The colors are really nice. I Love the buildings.
Mim, I'm so sorry I am late in responding, but I love, love, love my page!! Of course, I love Caroline's too, but mine, well, you know how I love nature and the sea! Couldn't be more perfect. Thanks a millenium!
(The fish looks a little like Homer Simpson, don't you think?) :)
Thats so neat and pretty...esp the fish. I hear that u r the master:)
I just loved it.
Good Day!
OH my gosh, I'm so late in coming here - I did leave a comment on the artysoulsisters blog though! Just wanted to let you know that I love my page and am really looking forward to seeing what didn't scan on the back!!! It's a fun technique using the resist and gives the painting a batik look - lovely! Thanks so much. Katie's pages are gorgeous too. The colours in all 3 are so pretty!
