Duh....

I've been dieting for a long time, and have lost a bit of weight but not enough so that people say "have you lost weight?". Discouraging.

Then - to keep myself in a good mood and take advantage of a legal drug (endorphins) I've started walking in the mornings - started out sauntering and have progressed to very slow jogging for 1/4 mile out of my fast overall 3 mile walk.

And lo and behold...tonight I tried on a dress that was tight a few weeks ago and it FITS!!!

So...all those people are right. The only way to really lose weight/tighten up/get fit...is to exercise.

And I thought it was a myth dreamed up by fitness buffs.

Thank goodness I'm enjoying it right now.

T'is true I'm afraid. It's not something dreamt up by the exercise facists ... although I still have my suspicions on that front myself har har har. I have taken your lead and started walking again before work. Weight loss is a slow old business but at least I don't have to breath in just to get into my jeans.

I meant to say that I loved the bowls from your previous post and especially the leaf one (think it was maple leaves) Really something else. I always thought bowls were just kind of "there" not something to notice or anything. Not any more thanks to you. Have a lovely day Mim. xx Jos

I go in such ebbs and flows with exercise and eating RIGHT. Before my son's wedding you might recall I worked out hard and lost 18 lbs. Well slowly over the two years after that they slowly crept back not all but most. Lately, before my recent two week vacation/road trip where I truly lost it to food and junk I had been doing my treadmill fairly faithfully and had gotten back to doing crunches and 5 lbs weights for arms. I guess we got enough walking in on the trip so even though I ate junk (ice cream, candy, french fries) I only gained about a pound. Now it's back to the treadmill and walking at noon hopefully. I seem to need goals. I guess I could work toward being a slimmer firmer grandma for the new baby coming in August! ;-) Oh funny, my word verification is "wayto" I'll add GO!

Congrats Mim. Fitting into a previously tight dress sure makes it all worth it. I have been walking every morning for so many years that I would be lost without it.

Congratulations on your determination and progress! I'm sure it helps an eensy-teensy bit to have such a beautiful place to walk in. I always drool a bit over the photos of your beautiful countryside. :0)

I've really been loving all the photos of bowls you've been posting recently, yours and those by others. Yours are quite faboo!

Brava to you for keeping the walking up. I always tell people that even if you don't want to lift weights or or do crunches, walking regularly WILL help you lose weight.....plus it's healthy for your ♥ and for your soul!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

Congrats on the weight loss and probably the benefit you have gotten for relief of stress and your heart too.

Congrats on the dress fitting! That must've been a great feeling. Exercise is definitely the way to go, and between the walking and jogging, you are going to trim down for sure!

Way to go Mim. Doesn't it feel good to fit into something that you want to wear but couldn't just a few weeks ago?. Keep up the good work.

I am happy for you Mim. Nothing is as bad as doing the best you can without results.
I don't really like exercise , only tennis.
But I am happy for you you are finally seeing result and are enjoying the process in the meanwhile.

Have a wonderful day and wear that dress with pride ♥

Someone recently told me that when you are "our age" you have to fire on all cylinders. Not just diet, but a healthy diet and consistent exercise. Incrementally we WILL get there even by baby steps if it's all in the right direction.

yay Mim!!! I'm looking forward to fitting into something again as well. You've encouraged me, although I don't know what I'd do without my walks (mental breaks) either.
You and I are not aerobic chicks...walking is our forte ;)

Wooo-hoooo! See you in August, skinny!

I wish you good luck. It works if you stick with it. That's always been my problem; I do it for about 3-4 months and then I think, "Geez, the only way to keep this weight off is to keep working out EVERY day!" I fall off the wagon and the weight comes back. I'm so hoping you can stick with it. I'm cheering for you.

your post is encouraging to me. I lost weight last year, and then gained it back plus more. I've been so discouraged with it. I'm glad you've had success - it is a long, hard road to follow.
