Buying myself presents

Some days I just need to give myself a treat. I've been wanting to make a sketchbook with hot pressed watercolor paper, cause I like the surface. I've been reading a few articles about bookmaking ...and am fairly lost (what is a signature?), but thought I might give it a go. I wanted to put the paper into an old book cover, just cause I think it would be cool.

So in the midst of all this, I stumbled upon a hand made journal with all kinds of lovely paper in it, and it's in an old book about Italy and it looks pretty professionally done...and I just bought it and gave myself a present. What the heck! I can't wait to see it.
I read Casey's posts about making her sketchbook, and it looked so wonderful but so much work to make, and I swore to myself that I would NOT start another project.
But we'll see how this goes. I like to swear not to take on another project and then turn around an do it. I love to argue with myself and then have one of me win.

Hey Mim, I didn´t really understand I think. So you bought a handmade journal (online??). So the next project will be the content of the book, not the book itself? Did I get that right?
I keep starting new projects too, but I have become better and stop myslef when I notice that it is getting too much. :)

Yes, my new ongoing project will be filling a journal with drawings, and writings. I did buy this journal online at ETSY, a handmade book in an old cover. I'll see what it looks like when I get it and show you all.

I tried to post this but got some sort of error so forgive me if I'm posting twice. If you haven't done so already somewhere on this blog, someday when you have some free time (ha ha), could you please tell us the story of how you first got started and/or decided to become and artist? You always have such amazing and creative ideas/projects and I'd love to know what's behind your inspiration. Hopefully it might inspire me to do more creative artsy things : )

Ah a new project. How fun. Thanks for your comments on my blog. I shall keep checking to see what you fill your new sketchbook journal with. :)

Hi Mim. That sounds like a wonderful notebook you found. I spent a few years hand binding books and for me, a very right brained person, it was hard due to measurments needed and cutting paper and such. However i love the final product so much that I made a lot of handbound books and even sold them for awhile. I found it very satisfying and wish my bookbinding kit wasn't down in my storage unit on the Cape.
