A sore sunday AM

I still haven't figured out how to get pictures off my camera into this beast, but will continue to work it thru (perhaps MAC and I need some couples therapy). Anyway, I was going to post pictures of my new bicycle, and the bike road and my first spring post. But I can't. So I will just tell you that my new bike is wonderful, and I took it off road for the first time, and used up about a zillion calories according to my polar heart monitor.  But I didn't have on my padded shorts...thought it was too cold for shorts...and I'm sore as all get out, and chafed, and just a TINY bit cranky about it (I'm cranky cause I wanted to buy one of those gel, padded, made-for-women- bike-seats and he "talked" me out of it) And even though the sun was shining, it was occasionally pelting down rain. So I used up a small bit of wifely cranky points and got Tony to do all the bike cleaning and such while I soaked in a bath last night. But really - secretly I enjoyed the whole day.

Now, when I get that damn camera-interface going I'll show you pictures of daffodils growing right thru a little snowbank.

Mim, two words. Terry Dragonfly. Not padded, but perfectly anatomically correct for a woman. It's the best 100 bucks you'll ever spend, your entire nether region will thank you. I'm not a brand name person by any means but these seats are so great I wouldn't try anything else.

I have a new bike too-and it's still at the shop waiting for it's Dragonfly to come in. I'll post about the new bike on my blog.

I'm hoping for a bit of a ride today.

Next year I'm getting a pair of padded tights for winter. I used leg warmers in texas with my shorts and frankly they felt pornographic to me. Now is the time to look for tights because they are on sale everywhere-just buy ones that you think will fit now don't wear them until winter, and if you've lost a bit of weight they'll still fit because they are not stretched out. You'll save boocoos bucks cause they are expensive in season. Nashbar.com
is one of my favorite places.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come on and start spouting advice, but this is both biking and shopping, two of my favorite things!

The first year we rode, I bought bike shorts and a pair of black stretcy pants to wear over them because that was cheaper than the padded bike pants. Then I waited until I had a gift card the next year and I got myself a pair of padded bike pants. Ahhhh. So nice. I'm such a whimp when it comes to fold weather so both the regular stretcy pants and the bike pants are wonderful. But you definitely need padding. It feels stupid but it's so nice on the behind. And dont' even get me started on the long sleeve bike shirts that fill my closet not to mention the bike jackets and glooves : ) I rode in the MS150 one year when it was 30 degrees and raining and sleeting at one point. I wasn't prepared. I swore to never let that happen to me again.
