Creative Every Day

I'm going to do the Creative Every Day Challenge thing this year. At first I thought I would hold off...commitment etc. But when I thought about it more, I realized that I always have something creative going on - and this will help me look at my daily life in a different way. Was I doodling at that meeting...or was I being creative? Am I just watching TV or am I knitting a sweater and being companionable and staying in the room while some sport show is on. You get the idea. This gives new meaning, and focus, to redoing the bird house gourds that have been hanging from the trees for two years.

On another note, here is my annoyance for today. I did a picture in my sketchbook and I decided to give it to my nephew for Christmas. The sketchbook cover says "11x14 sheets", and my first annoyance is that I didn't actually measure the pages. When I was at the stationary store last night, I bought a frame that was for 11x14. All sounds good right? But when I got home I found that the sketchbook pages are actually 14.5" x 10.5". How odd is that? The 14.5 is OK - I can trim the piece, but the 10.5" - very odd. So it looks odd in the frame...I'll have to figure out how to matt it so that it looks decent. Moral of story....measure first, buy second (to eliminate "return things to store" third.

Good luck doing the CreativeEvery Day. Sounds like a fun challenge.

I am forever having problems choosing frames even when I measure. Even when I bring the picture with me to the frame place. Well, that one works a little better.

I am also doing the 2009 creative everday. So, are you going to show us what you framed??

That is truly bizarre about the sketchbook size....you can't trust anybody any more, can you?

Wow, not long ago you were thinking of ways to cut back. Now look at you! I don't know how you do it. I'll be watching at admiring from afar :)

Yes, yes, we must keep creating...it sure makes me happy to do so...loved reading your reasons for being in front of tv sports etc...me too, the same...

okay measure then buy...also look inside. Last week bought sketch book/journal for teen grand daughter and while looking saw someone had written in gold flow pen on one of the pages of one of the books. Tacky. But glad I saw it before I bought THAT ONE.

Mim - you are up to the challenge! I can't wait to see the artistic treasures you'll be creating. Sorry abut the frame thing! I've bought first and measured later a few times myself!
