Underground

For Monday ArtDay's theme of "Underground" I posted this little piece done over the weekend in front of the tube, just doodling.
Sad story to tell. I took my practically brand new sewing machine into the shop for a lube job and to tell them that the feed dogs were not working. "Oh" she said "one of those machine's. Where'd you get it, BJ's?". I told her No, it was on sale at Sears and I got it for $100.00 (very proudly). She sniffed and told me that I was wasting my money and that I should invest in a good machine and not a piece of junk. And she didn't even sell sewing machines!
So who knows if little Euro-shark will ever come home again. I'll dig out my old clunker and use that for a few days...but it sounds like I'm going to have to make a decision about a new machine. Any hints or suggestions?

My own hearts wants a computerized embroiderizing self threading thingy. I am skilled enough to use a needle and thread....I do hate techno snobs and salespeople who sniff at other's choices. The machine isn't the talent YOU are the talent.

Oh, I love the drawing too-I like the stars shooting out of the ground.

Love this cute little sketch. It looks so interesting and like you had fun doing it.

Personally, I had a Viking and love them. Since art took over my life and I am no longer quilting I gave it to my daughter who quilts every minute she can find, so I know it went to a good home. And she loves it.

I'll look into the Viking, thanks Teri. Deb, you're right. A good machine cannot a quilter make...BUT a good machine can keep you from banging your head against the wall everytime the bobbin thread snaps!

I'd be tempted to get another opinion on that sewing machine - you never know...

Love this drawing, great strong colours and lovely rhythm and composition.

I love your drawing so much.... I love such crowded drawings that make you sit there watching them for a long time, each moment finding a new beauty and a new thought.

Sorry I took so long to check our your blog -- and thank you for the great comment you left on my IF: BLANKET post! Coming from another artist, it means a lot!

I've put you on my bloggers list.
