Illustration Friday night - August 31st - Hopefully Temporary

When I first started doing artwork I started with Decoupage and decorated a birdhouse with newsprint, mini babies, and my great-grandma, Marianina Alesso (straight from the old country). I very very carefully cut her out of the picture and used her as a little paste up on the birdhouse. She looked great on the birdhouse, but I realized that the negative of her was even more interesting. I've had it up for awhile, and it seemed to fit this weeks theme - my premise being that it was only temporary that she is missing from the scene.
Can you imagine what a little old Italian lady, born in about 1850 in Sicily, would say if she knew her non-picture was on a computer blog.

i can see her clearly in my mind's eye and , although she wouldn't understand, she'd be so proud of you, i know she would.
thanx for your wonderful comments, you don't realise what an incentive that is for me.

why don't you do your whole family like this, make an interesting effect?

Oh, good idea. There are some people in my family that I would LOVE to make disappear.

sorry for the late reply. it will take me months to catch up with all the blogs and mails. in fact i won´t be able to catch up. ;) i just wanted you to know that i haven´t forgotten you and specially the mails (also with the wine recommendations) i´ll check that out soon.

btw: so should the next portrait of you be the punk portrait or rather the pirate portrait?
