Dad-isms

My Dad was not big on advice - but occasionally came thru with some beauties. He was very conservative financially (and otherwise) and years ago gave us some advice about investing. His advice??? (I think this was in 1999 or 2000, and must be said in a certain offhand, yet definitive tone)

"Dot com - Dot schom"

Good advice - thanks Dad

Thanks for sharing a bit of your Dad with us. I think you will become more aware of him in yourself than ever before as you move forward and it is very comforting.

I love Dada-isms...

My favorites of my dad's...

Like a barrel full of coathangers (aka fustercluck)

If it ain't buggered, it ain't mine (in regards to his tools)

Eat it or wear it (said to kids at dinnertime, along with
It's this or a cold chicken fat sandwich)

and

Better than a sharp stick in the eye

Miss you, dad...but you live on in Dada-isms

little sayings of Dad's keep popping into my mind. Marianne - what this really means is that Dad felt that the "dot.com" stocks of the 90's were just come-ons and would not make money - and in most cases he was right. I only wish he had invested in Google...
