Collapse time

Know those times when you are taking care of others and you think you are just fine and then you get home and it all falls apart....????

That's me! Got home last night around 6:30, felt great, but got sick in the middle of the night. Didn't get out of bed today until 3:00 PM and am still, at 10PM, in my robe and jammies. Watched some TV. Knitted. Friends sent over dinner.

I'm either totally stressed or really did pick up a bug on the airplane...or both.

And a snowstorm tomorrow, perhaps enough to snowshoe in at night - I hope.

Take care of yourselves!

Dear Mim,

I am sure you "fell apart" because you finally landed and am not referring to the plane trip.
You are very vulnerable right now...just having gone through the first stage of grieving with family and friends, caring for mom, etc. Once home and quiet your body and mind can finally collaspe and you have done so in a normal expected understandable way. It's called grief. Just be gentle with yourself. I hope work does not demand your appearance anytime soon, and you can have this time to gather yourself/rest/grieve/feel/just BE.
All this my simple humble opinion.
Sending you hugs.

Like Lynn, I hope you can rest and gather your spirit before having to return to work. You could be feeling what I felt when my mom left after 2 weeks after Mike passed, so deflated and drained and like lead weights were around my ankles.

And flying, there is no doubt that it's the easiest environment to spread germs ever!

So if you are both physically sick and mentally (I was going to put ill there too, giggled and thought you might too) drained, be sure you get your sleep and fluids and calories and just stay in your jammies...

Poor Mim that´s no surprise.......
After Dad died half of my family turned ill. I think grief takes a lot of energy and causes your immune system to be low so all bugs flying around will find you.
Hope you don´t have to work soon so you can have a good rest! I was soooooo tired and still am with intervals.
You must take care now, be gentle to yourself.
My thoughts will be with you Mim!
big big hug!

oh god mim, not surprising at all. you have been on 'super-charged' battery power and strength for everyone else. without the plane journey, i would say just stress and grief. be kind kind kind to yourself for now and stay in your jimmy jams and keep warm and cosy and remember we are all thinking of you. huggles from me and a big pot of chicken soup.

It's probably a bit of both. I don't always think that the buggies are a bad thing-they are what make it "OK" for us to just rest. I would like to get to the point where I don't need a bug to feel justified in resting, but until then, I'll take it.

You have been in my thoughts and prayers, and my prayer for you today is sweet snow, silence, and rest.

It's both! And it's your body saying Helloooo I'm here and I need you to take care of ME. Rest up and feel better soon!

All of the above are probably why - it is not unusual for your body, mind and spirit require you rest after you've expending all your energies in such a situation.

Just rest and take care.

Oh Mim, it is probably just the body reflecting the mind. Take it easy and let yourself heal from within. Love and ((hugs))

Everyone has said it all and very well so I will just say that I am thinking of you and know how you feel. Take it easy on yourself. Time is what you need and rest.
