Don't you wish we could just say "POOF" throw some fairy dust (or furniture dust)and there you have it!!!! Hoping your wish comes true. Take care, Katie
Hey those are one of MY 1940s dresses. All I can say is layaway! LOL Thanks for the mention - I am adding you to my blogroll! xoxoxo\cherie from Shrimpton Couture
What 1940 dresses? Can others see something I cannot see? Or are you just thinking of them and we are to visualize our mother's in the kitchen in their cotton wrap around dresses and aprons while they baked and cooked?
Lynn - the link is to a vintage dress site - where you can envision me as June Cleaver, in high heels and a pastel dress - making cookies in the kitchen....or as a sultry Marilyn Monroe singing "Diamonds are a girls best friend"...or as Greer Garson in a silk housedress lounging on the chesterfield....You get the picture.
And yes, KJ - the body needs a bit of work so that I don't look like Ma Kettle digging potatoes or Dame Rutherford searching for clues.
Does one get the idea that I am an old movie fan???
Years ago, Mim, I worked for the State Dept of Mental Health on Cape Cod. People donated stuff to the halfway house/and mental hospital. One day I arrived at work and there was a VAN full of someone's 1940's and 50's stuff. Dishes and clothes I remember the most. Of course the personel had accepted the donation and then were going to drive it to the dump. but first I and other workers got to look through it. i LOVE 1940 dresses. I went nuts. But not nuts enough. I took about 5 however there were tons more that nobody wanted which I "should" have taken bound for the dump as they were. I even wore one or two to work a few times. I had to clear out my vintage collection (mostly collected at thrift stores for pennies) when I had to leave my 20 year rental.
My mother's clothes seem to have been plainer and more boxy, in memory, with a smart suit and something nice for evening. She would wear a 'house dress' in the morning, with pinny and a turban while she cleaned the fireplace and coal range, and change into a dress or skirt in the afternoons. All housework was done by ten o'clock. I have not been able to live up to that.

Pretty dresses for sure.
I hope you get one.....I'm hoping for a shape to come back to me so I can get one too!

oooooh. reason enough to lose more weight (speaking for myself). 20 pounds to go, maybe 25 after this vacation and all this mexican food.
the dress is awesome, mim.
